Day 2 of the Hanford Advisory Board is on March 24 from 9am-4pm PT. This is an opportunity to see your regional board carry out one of its most important tasks—giving consensus advice to the agencies that run and regulate Hanford’s cleanup.
On Day 2, the board will continue discussing the advice and decide if each advice piece goes forward or not. The advice being considered are the following:
Advice on HAB membership changes- In response to the efforts USDOE is making to diversify the board and implement term limits
Advice on Cleanup Priorities- An outline of the cleanup activities HAB members believe USDOE should prioritize. Activities are labeled as either “critical” or “important”.
Advice on Tank Leaks- Drafted in reaction to leaking tank B-109, this advice asks the regulators to create a plan for what to do when tanks leak in the future
Tune in from 9-4pm PT on March 24 to hear HAB discussion on the latest Hanford developments. If you’re interested in weighing in on the discussion, at 11:30am on March 24 there’s time for the public to comment. Show up virtually to watch the HAB in action!
