Miya Burke is Program Manager for Hanford Challenge.
Miya earned her B.A. in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Puget Sound. After nine years of working as a chef in Spain, New Zealand, and Portland, Oregon, Miya decided to make a career transition into the environmental field.
She earned her M.A. in International Environmental Policy from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey, California. She became an intern with Columbia Riverkeeper and appreciated a localized perspective of environmental issues. It was during this internship that she cultivated an interest in cleanup at the Hanford Nuclear Site. Miya is passionate about cleaning up radioactive waste to create a safe and vibrant Hanford for future generations.
Miya is a member of the Oregon Hanford Cleanup Board and serves as vice chair on the Hanford Advisory Board.
